Dahlia Prints

I’m excited to be able to release the first limited edition prints in a series of studies of this season’s Dahlias. These beautiful flowers were grown in the UK by Lorna and Kathryn at Skylark Flower Company, with care for the environment and wildlife. Cultivars named Preference and Labyrinth, their wild and exotic looking petals are the flamboyantly sculptural, perfect for the Cyanotype process.

It was a meditative time in the studio working with these. I used flash head and large softboxes for lighting and slowly tweaked the light angle and the flower positions until I found the look and feel that I wanted.

There are currently 5 series of limited editions of these, 12 only of each. They are available under the Artist Support Pledge Initiative, where artists support other artists by selling work for under £200 and when they make sales of £1000 they pledge to buy a piece of work from another artist.
