About
I am a London based artist working with early photographic and printmaking processes such as Cyanotype and Photogravure.
I originally trained as a figurative sculptor. I now work with the figure and other natural forms. I often use studio lighting to enhance the mass and three dimensionality of the subjects.
To make Cyanotype prints I coat cotton rag paper with a light sensitive solution of iron salts and then leave it to dry in the dark. I then expose it to UV light under large format negatives, and finish up by washing the prints in water, where they develop their characteristic blue colour.
I love the creativity of the cyanotype process. I like the mistakes, blur, brushstrokes, loss of definition and the translation and reduction of the photographic image.
